BBQ Rules and Information
Update: Teams will have the opportunity to also offer a side dish (possibilities: baked beans, cornbread, coleslaw, mac & cheese, etc...) and compete for the People's Choice Award.
All teams must pre-register Friday July 16th, 2021
Register by completing the online form below.
The cost to enter will be $50.
Generators and invertors will not be allowed.
Power will be provided for an additional charge of $10.
The entry fee and power charges are due at the gate.
Contest limited to 25 teams.
Teams will be given
baby back ribs
or
St. Louis ribs and a pork loin
to prepare.
Meat will be provided by the WCFair Board.
Teams may only use the meat provided by the WCF Board.
All entered must be cooked and prepared on grounds
You may season and prepare meats as you see fit.
The ribs will be evaluated by a secret panel of judges and all meats will be judged by the public in separate categories.
Small containers will be provided for serving samples to the public.
Each team must provide its own grill/cooker.
Team locations are randomly provided at or slightly before 6:00am on Sunday.
Contestants should be on the grounds by 6:00AM
Tasting and judging starts at 1:00 pm and continues until about 2:30 pm.
Prizes will be awarded to winners in all categories.
BBQ (DHHS) Guidelines
All BBQ contestants must follow the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) guidelines in place at the time of the event. These guidelines include but are not limited to the following:
All Servers must wear face coverings when serving food
All food must be served to customers (no self-serve or buffet style serving allowed)
Servers must wash hands before serving
Disinfect all high touch surfaces before serving begins
Complete a pre-screening of all servers to insure no one is feeling ill or has a temperature.
Only members of your own team are allowed to be within six feet of each other, keep distance between teams
Have hand sanitizer available for your team members
Whenever possible encourage social distancing between all participants and tasters
Please read signage posted on fairgrounds so that you understand the restrictions in place before the contest starts
